May 20 saw ICEF start its Summer School, a short-term programme designed to immerse candidates in our academic environment, line of thought, and milieu. The summer bridge welcomes candidates recommended for admission to ICEF Master’s Programme “Financial Economics” in 2025, as well as undergraduates and holders of bachelor’s degrees who wish to advance their knowledge by pursuing our master’s programme.

Ilya Vuchenovich, a member of the ICEF class of 2023, has made it onto Forbes 30 Under 30 longlist in category Entrepreneurs. Ilya and his brother Alexander are the founders of Drinksome.

In early May, more than thirty students and staff of the HSE University, and among them Rector, competed in the Kazan Marathon. Its participants ran distances from 3 km to marathon and were on cheering points, offering words of encouragement that put a smile even on the faces of the weariest of runners. Among them was Andrey Okhlopkov, an ICEF student who curates the student organization LIFESTART.

Congratulations to our third-year student Anastasia Rozenson on prize-winning performance in the Econometrics Universiade. Anastasia’s win adds another glorious link to the chain of wins by ICEF students!

ICEF continues to expand its team of internationally qualified faculty members holding PhD degrees. Starting September 2025, three new faculty members will join ICEF: Nicolas Lagios, Viktor Malein, and Anna Rozhkova.

On the 12^th of April, the Luzhniki Stadium hosted the football tournament held as part of the HSE Dorm Olympics 2024-2025. Competing in it were all faculties of the Higher School of Economics.

For the team of ICEF, who won gold, this has been the seventh win.

Runjie Geng, Assistant Professor at the International College of Economics and Finance, has been at HSE University since 2020. He joined HSE University after obtaining a PhD in Finance at the University of Zurich. Runjie Geng spoke to the HSE University News Service about his research interests, career, and four years of life and work in Moscow.

On March 26, the 14th Research Seminar on Economic Studies titled “Bank Lending: Trends, Risks, and New Opportunities” was held at the International College of Economics and Finance (ICEF) of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE University). The event was organized jointly by the Bank of Russia, the New Economic School (NES), and HSE University. The seminar gathered participants from the Bank of Russia, Sberbank, T-Bank, as well as professors from leading universities in Russia, the United States, China, and the Netherlands, and representatives from the banking and analytical communities. Audiences across Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) tuned in to the expert discussions. Key topics included the development of the banking sector, environmental factors in lending, the impact of managerial competencies on loan quality, prudential regulation and financial stability, and credit risks and strategies.

ICEF continues to successfully deliver its series of workshops where students get the chance of solving real-life cases under the guidance of field experts.
