Dmitry Filippov, who is in his fourth year of BSc Economics and Finance, was excused from classes in the campus in Pokrovsky Boulevard for a period of three months. The reason was his exchange studies with Shanghai University under the three-month exchange programme between schools in Russia and China. Here’s Dmitry’s impressions and takeaways from his experience of international communication.

What hurdles do our graduating students face? Some questions that seem to concern them the most are, “Do I have the right skills and enough knowledge? What will my workplace tasks really be like? Will I be able to put theory into practice and live up to expectations my employer has for me?” To help the students tackle their pre-graduation worries already now in the middle of their fourth year, ICEF offers a series of workshops dedicated to job readiness and hosted by its faculty and former students.

In this interview, two first-year students of the ICEF International Bachelor’s Programme in Economics and Finance share their first college exam experience, how they are setting up life in Moscow, and why they chose ICEF.

On November 22, 2024, the International Laboratory of Financial Economics (LFE, ICEF HSE) hosted the 13^th International Moscow Finance Conference, bringing together researchers and experts from various countries to discuss current issues in financial economics. In his welcoming speech, Vladimir Sokolov, Head of the Laboratory, emphasised the significance of financial market research for the global economy.

Liu Minglin, who is in his final year of the International Bachelor’s Programme in Economics and Finance at ICEF, shares his impressions of living in Russia and studying at HSE University.

Liu Minglin, 22, chose to study at ICEF in Moscow for two reasons: his Russian friends’ recommendations and the contents of the programme curriculum on the website. Liu says his admission went smoothly, without excessive red tape, and that ICEF staff were quick to respond to all his questions.

Snezhana Yerashova entered ICEF Master’s Programme after completing her economics degree in Lomonosov Moscow State University. Good-natured and committed, her classmates wouldn’t find a better candidate to be their representative. Nor would we find a more apt person to ask first about how our new cohort are doing in their new environment and what they think about their first few months in ICEF.

On October 25-26, 2024 ICEF held the Sixth ICEF International Conference on Applied Economics at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. The conference was held in the format of live discussions with the participation of researchers from leading Russian and foreign universities, which contributed to the exchange of ideas and the development of international cooperation.
