ICEF met chinese applicants

In Beijing, ICEF along with Marina Kozak, Director of International Student Recruitment Centre, held a series of meetingsheld a series of meetings with local schoolchildren and their parents, who met with the institute at the presentation of the bachelor's double degree programme and asked about the details of training. In addition, local children were able to test their knowledge in accordance with the requirements of ICEF and HSE. It became possible thanks to the collaboration between HSE E&T Centre and and JOINYEA Education group that organized HSE Global Scholarship Competition at one of their Chinese schools, STEAM. It was not only the capital's students who took part in the competition, but also students from several provinces of China attended the event.

The competition has been held since 2013 for selected educational programmes. This year there were 17 areas, and Chinese students were able to equalize their level of knowledge with the requirements of the HSE, so that already in 2020 they would be able to start studying at the university. Participation in the competition gives diplomats a chance to qualify for benefits for admission to the programme. On December 15, lists of diplomats will be posted on the website, they will receive an invitation to submit documents for training at the HSE and ICEF, and in January 2010, awards will be held.

The first HSE Global Scholarship Competition was held in 2013, the CIS and Baltic countries participated in it, and in 2018, students from 26 countries were already able to take part in. In total there were 7225 participants this year.

Several dozens of Beijing schoolchildren interested in studying at the HSE and at ICEF took part in the competition. Most of them chose the “Mathematics” area, with 80% completing assignments in English, 20% in Russian. Participants also tried themselves in the areas of “Sociology”, “Psychology” and in several other humanitarian disciplines.

Acquaintance with HSE – the largest Russian university – opened up new opportunities for Chinese students. So far, Russia is ranked 6th in the number of Chinese students studying in the country, but events such as the Global Scholarship Competition open up more opportunities for them and become more familiar with Russian education.
