Last week Professor Mihail Zervos from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) visited ICEF and delivered a series of lectures on Stochastic Analysis for MSc ICEF students.

Maria Petrova, First year MSc student has shared with us her impressions about Mihail Zervos’s lectures:

First of all, it is always great that ICEF provides an opportunity to meet well known and leading professors from the international universities and to learn their opinion on the current issues.

Secondly, I am glad to say that such solid academics do not deliver the lecture but truly try to explain the key meaning of the subject. Honestly, stochastic analysis is not a very simple discipline, especially for girls: plenty of symbols and definitions, strange thing named “sigma-algebra” and giant volume of information. All these things have frightened many of us at first. But Professor Mihail Zervos truly tried to explain everything in a very simple way, draw schemes and pictures to convey a particular idea to each of us. Thanks a lot from all of us for such care!

And finally, during the last lectures after finishing the theoretical part Prof. Mihail Zervos talked to us in length about the application of stochastic analysis in real life situations in particular about Black–Scholes formula and about its application in asset pricing, options analysis and hedging. It was very informative especially for those of us who are particularly interested in financial markets and asset modeling.
