Life After ICEF: Our People at the University of Amsterdam
Earlier in April 2022, Shahlo Islamova, one of ICEF’s brightest graduates of the class of 2021, received a letter confirming her acceptance to the University of Amsterdam’s master’s programme in Corporate Finance with full scholarship.
Shakhlo Islamova graduated from ICEF bachelor’s programme in 2021, with First Class Honours from the University of London and diploma cum laude from HSE. Shakhlo continuously excelled as an ICEF student, maintaining her top-10 ranking among 230 students of her class. In the 2020-2021 academic year, Shakhlo participated in CFA Institute Research Challenge as a member of HSE-ICEF team, which holds the leading position among the best Russian teams. The certificates from CFA Association (Russia), awarded to the team in the Russian final, praise them For Outstanding Investment Research.
As a student of ICEF, Shakhlo was able to get a 75% discount on her tuition fee. Eligible for it are only the best-performing students. Currently a financial analyst at Ernst & Young in the field of economic modeling and valuation, Shakhlo will begin studying for her master’s degree in Corporate Finance at the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) in the autumn of 2022.

While teaching Econometrics to Shakhlo’s class, I could tell from her excellent progress that she had a strong interest in the subject, and she also displayed excellent analytical thinking skills. Shakhlo was one of the top students of the class and received excellent exam grades (10 points out of 10). I particularly liked her essay titled Income Inequality and Economic Growth, where she examines the relationship between income inequality and economic growth in 32 countries using some of the classical theories.
Shakhlo has the ability to set clear goals and consider the actions required to achieve them in a rational, lively manner. She’s an excellent presenter and a great communicator. I think she will succeed in her role as a master’s student in the University of Amsterdam’s Corporate Finance programme.
Shakhlo has a wide range of options available to her. She has the option of working to be a top manager or an analyst or a scientist. Coupled with excellent hands-on experience, Shakhlo’s consistently high expertise in various fields of knowledge is what puts her at advantage. I wish her great success!
