On June 25, 2010 the Academic Council of SU-HSE approved the establishment of International Research Laboratory in Financial Economics (ILFE) at ICEF, created jointly with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).
The foremost goal of the Laboratory is to conduct research in finance at international standards which leads to publications in top international finance and economics journals.
To achieve this goal the Research Laboratory will help to create an active research environment at ICEF. This includes the organization of regular research seminars, participation of international experts from LSE and other prestigious foreign universities in determining the research goals and implementing research projects as well as the purchase of necessary databases.
Not only professors and students of ICEF and other HSE departments, but also experts from LSE, Oxford, Munster, Vienna and other leading foreign universities and research centers participate in the work of the Laboratory. The appointments of ICEF associate professor Carsten Sprenger (PhD Economics) as the Head of the Laboratory and the LSE professor Christian Julliard (one of the leading researchers in Financial Markets Group) as the Laboratory’s Research Director are already confirmed.
The main research areas of the Laboratory will be Financial markets and their efficiency, Corporate finance and governance, and the interrelations between finance, banking and the macroeconomy.
The research at ICEF Research Laboratory is aimed at publication in top international refereed finance and economics journals. The already established ICEF Working Paper Series in Economics and Finance serves to circulate research papers before journal publication. Research work conducted in the framework of the Laboratory will be presented at international conferences and workshops in the area of financial economics and at Russian conferences in the area of economics, as well as be integrated into the teaching process at ICEF.
