On Thursday, October 16 at 3.00 pm International College of Economics and Finance and Internatioanl Laboratory of Financial Economics will hold the Research Seminar in Finance.

Speaker: Alex Stomper (Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin)
Theme: "Insurance within the Industry"
Venue: Shabolovka st., 26, room 3211

Abstract: We analyze how firms' employment growth responds to sales shocks. The analysis reveals that a firm can provide its employees with more "insurance" if the firm's competitors operate with more flexible production technologies. We thus show that the Knightian view of the firm as a "system for insuring the timid and doubtful" must be extended to the industry-level.
