ICEF Short Profile

ICEF is an autonomous subdivision of the leading Russian university, the National Research University – Higher School of Economics (HSE). ICEF was established in 1997 and developed in academic cooperation with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Currently ICEF has grown into the leading faculty of HSE. In 2022 HSE is in Top-70 QS in Economics and Econometrics and in Social Sciences and Management, 1st place in Russia.

Degree programmes

ICEF implements two degree programmes – the International Bachelor’s Programme in Economics and Finance and the Master’s Programme in Financial Economics. Currently It has more than 2700 graduates with two bachelor’s degrees: BSc in Economics from the HSE and BSc degree from the University of London (UoL) or with the HSE MSc Degree in Financial Economics.

In 2021, ICEF BSc Programme was the only Russian member of the CFA Institute University Affiliation Programme. In 2020 and 2022, ICEF team won Russian regional stage of the CFA Institute Research Challenge.

The MSc programme in Financial Economics has been consistently ranked among top-100 Finance Master’s programmes in the world according to the QS rating.

Faculty and research

Over the years, ICEF has accumulated a staff of highly qualified scholars with PhDs from top universities in the UK, US and Europe (Berkeley, Northwestern, LSE, LBS, etc.). Besides teaching, they are engaged in research that has been published in the leading journals in economics and finance, including Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Finance and Review of Financial Studies.

Since 2011, ICEF has hosted 12 International Moscow Finance conferences and 4 conferences on Applied Economics, in cooperation with the LSE.

Graduates

ICEF graduates are successfully employed by global and Russian banks, financial institutions, strategic consultancies and companies (Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Credit Suisse, McKinsey, BCG, Central Bank of Russia, Sber, VTB).

For several years, ICEF leads the HeadHunter employability ranking of top Russian universities and faculties in economics and finance. More than 600 ICEF graduates continued their education on PhD, MBA and master’s programmes at the world leading universities, including Harvard, University of California at Berkeley, Princeton, Stanford, LSE, HEC Paris, University of Oxford, London Business School, INSEAD, etc.
