ICEF HSE and FES HSE Academics Visit Wuhan University

In late October, the academics of ICEF HSE and FES HSE went to Wuhan University (China) for the Wuhan University – HSE Joint Workshop on Applied Economics, a venue that has brought together the economics researchers of the two universities.

Invited to present their research were the faculty of ICEF HSE (Maxim Nikitin, Dmitry Makarov, Tatiana Mayskaya, Runjie Geng, and Anna Yurko), FES HSE (Anastasia Antsygina, Yekaterina Kazakova, and Madina Karamysheva) and Wuhan University. The presented papers discussed the issues of theoretical and applied economics, as well as topics of finance. Each presentation was followed by an engaging discussion, allowing the participants to exchange ideas, get useful comments and identify new areas for further joint research. It should be noted that all the presented papers featured the outcomes that claim the merit of being original and are intended for publication in top international peer-reviewed journals. The conducted workshop proved a beneficial practice, allowing the academics of HSE and Wuhan University to exchange research feedback and identify possible avenues for further collaboration.

The workshop has among its outcomes also the agreement with the leaders of the Wuhan University School of Economics and Management on starting student exchange involving Wuhan University students’ participation in the ICEF Summer School, as well as holding of a joint Conference on applied economics.
