On September 18, 2008, the British embassy in Moscow traditionally hosted the ceremony for awarding Bachelor of Science diplomas to graduates of the International College of Economics and Finance of the State University - Higher School of Economics (ICEF, SU-HSE). This was the eighth graduating class of the College created in cooperation with one of the leading scientific and educational centres in the world - the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) of the University of London.

This year is very special for the University of London as it celebrates the 150-year anniversary of its External Programme. Due to this, and to the fact that ICEF students traditionally form the academic elite of those studying externally for degrees in Economics, Management, Banking and Finance, several very distinguished guests honoured the ceremony with their presence: Vice Ambassador of Great Britain in Russia Dr. Laurie Bristow, Vice Chancellor of the University of London sir Graeme Davies,  Dean of the External System of the University of London, Professor Jonathan Kydd, Deputy Director of the LSE for academic issues, Professor Janet Hartley, professors and directors of SU-HSE, and representatives of business and public organizations. SU-HSE Senior Academic Advisor Evgeniy Yasin and SU-HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov also visited to congratulate the grads and to address them with inspiring farewell speeches.

In 2008, 79 students graduated from the ICEF, which is the largest number in college's history. Besides, this year 24 of them (a new record!) received First Class Honours diplomas from the Universtiy of London, and 19 of them simultaneously earned and honours diploma from SU-HSE.

In addition, those of ICEF 3rd and 4th year students who received Awards for Academic Achievement and Letters of Commendation from the University of London for their outstanding results in external examinations in 2008 were also invited to the ceremony.

ICEF students and staff sincerely congratulate the 2008 alumni! We wish you further success and happiness!
