On September 14, ICEF hosted a welcome ceremony for the BSc double degree programme’s second year students, who will be commencing their studies in the University of London’s (UoL) International Programme. Students who successfully mastered the first year curriculum and passed all required international exams (APT and IELTS) were admitted to the UoL International Programme and are now officially students of two universities.
UoL top officials, including Professor Sir Adrian Smith, UoL Vice-Chancellor, and Dr. Mary Stiasny, UoL Pro Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of the UoL International Programme, as well as Richard Jackman and Jörn Rothe (LSE professors and UoL programmes supervisors), congratulated the students on this occasion.
Sir Adrian Smith talked about UoL and its programmes, which were launched back in 1836, as well as the university’s renowned alumni, including heads of state and Nobel Prize laureates. He advised the ICEF students to aspire just as high. In addition, the Vice-Chancellor pointed out that students are the most essential part of any academic institution.
On the part of ICEF, the students were greeted by College Director Sergey Yakovlev, who noted: ‘You are setting out on a new path, and I hope all of you will be successful. We are glad to have such outstanding students taking part in our international programme”.
ICEF Deputy Director Oleg Zamkov and college alumni Veronika Storozhenko (2014 graduate) and Alina Myalo (2015 graduate) offered their warm greetings and congratulations to the students.
At the end of the ceremony, the UoL Vice-Chancellor shook every student’s hand and wished them the best of luck.
For the first time, such distinguished UoL and LSE guests took part in an ICEF student welcome ceremony. Such events help students feel that they are a part of UoL’s large international community of students, alumni and professors.
