ICEF is a unique college, that was established in 1997 thanks to the combined efforts of  the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), one of the world’s leading centers of education and scientific research in economics, and the National Research University “Higher School of Economics” (HSE).

The main aim of ICEF establishment within the HSE was to create an internationally recognized center of scientific research and education in the field of economics (Internationally recognized centre of excellence).

ICEF history reflects the stages of gradual formation of the College competitiveness in relation to the leading international economic research and educational centers.

ICEF mission is to provide students in Russia with access to cutting edge economic education, which is compatible to the education at the leading universities of the world.

Today ICEF in academic cooperation with the LSE offers a unique in Russia and Eastern Europe double degree Bachelor’s programme and international Master’s programme in Financial Economics.

High quality of education at ICEF is achieved due to the highly qualified team of teachers, whose qualifications meet the requirements of the highest international standards. ICEF faculty includes 15 full-time academics employed from the international labour market, visiting professors from the LSE and Oxford, the best HSE teachers, business experts that conduct special courses and master classes at ICEF.

ICEF International Academic Committee, which includes HSE representatives along with renowned economists from the LSE, guarantees the compliance of ICEF activities with the high academic standards.

International academic culture based on the best Russian and British university traditions and values dominates at ICEF.

One of the most prominent ICEF features is the evidence of international recognition of the quality of education offered at the College.

Besides the HSE exams, ICEF students annually take the international exams of the University of London – for the Bachelor’s degree and exams with the participation of the LSE professors – for the Master’s degree, as well as other international exams.
Thus, ICEF graduates receive two diplomas:

• Bachelor’s programme – the diploma from the HSE and the University of London

• Master’s programme - the diploma from the HSE and an official letter of validation from the LSE.

The double degree format of ICEF programme, that combines Russian and British standards of higher economic education, gives ICEF students additional opportunities, comparative advantages in their future academic and professional career.

ICEF graduates work successfully in the leading Russian and foreign companies in Russia and abroad. About 150 ICEF BSc graduates continue their education on postgraduate programmes offered by the leading Russian and Western universities (the University of London, LSE, London Business School, University of Oxford, Harvard University, Cambridge and Stanford Universities, etc.). Many of them have received scholarships, which cover tuition and often living expenses.
